Can regenerative medicine help me avoid surgery?
For many patients we see, yes, but not always. Some patients who’ve been told they’ll eventually need surgery are able to delay it or manage their pain with non-surgical care, including regenerative injections, decompression and rehab. Regenerative treatments haven’t been proven to rebuild worn joints, and for some conditions surgery is the better choice. After we examine you and review your imaging, we’ll tell you honestly what we think your options are.
Do your regenerative medicine treatments actually work, and are they safe?
It depends on the treatment and the condition. PRP uses platelets from your own blood and has more research behind it for some tendon problems than for others; for knee and hip arthritis, the evidence is mixed and the American College of Rheumatology recommends against it. Our stem cell treatment uses Wharton’s jelly, a tissue product from donated umbilical cords, not your own cells. It is not FDA-approved for joint, spine or nerve conditions, and research is still developing. Common side effects of both are soreness and swelling at the injection site; less common risks include infection, flare-ups and no improvement. Before any treatment, we review the evidence, risks and alternatives with you and have you sign a written consent.
How is Freedom Integrated Medicine different from other pain management clinics?
Some pain management clinics manage your pain with medication and repeat injections that mask the symptom while the cause goes untreated. We focus on finding what’s driving your pain, and building a plan around it. That’s why we bring regenerative injections together with chiropractic care, spinal decompression and cold laser therapy all under one roof. We also work alongside your medical doctor and refer out when medication, surgery, or another specialist is the right call.
How much does regenerative treatment cost, and what is the $49 New Patient Special?
Regenerative treatments like stem cell therapy and PRP are not cheap treatments. They are a significant investment in your health and, as elective treatments, are usually not covered by insurance. Stem cell & PRP plans may range from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on your condition and how many injections you need to accomplish your goals. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds, and we offer payment plans. Your first visit is the $49 New Patient Special: a one-on-one consultation with a doctor, a full exam and X-rays. From there, we show you what we found and lay out your options and their costs in writing, with no pressure. Because results vary, we encourage you to compare every option.
I have already tried physical therapy, cortisone, and injections. Why would this work when they did not?
It might not. Some patients respond very well to regenerative treatments, while they are less effective for others. Physical therapy, cortisone, and pain injections all have their place, and most of our patients have already been through them, but they rarely address the damaged tissue itself. Some patients who didn’t get lasting relief from those do better with a different approach, such as combining decompression, rehab and injections. At your exam, we’ll look at why earlier treatments may not have worked and whether anything we offer is likely to help.
How soon will I feel relief after recieving regenerative treatments?
Patients who respond usually notice progress within the first few weeks, with improvement building over several months. Everyone heals on their own timeline, and some patients don’t see meaningful change. At your first visit, we’ll give you an honest picture of what recovery typically looks like for a condition like yours, and we track your progress at every follow-up.
